A copied list often contains blank lines, indentation and repeated entries. Cleaning it is straightforward when the rules are visible. The Text Cleaner treats the input as lines and applies only the selected transformations.
A reproducible contact list
support@example.com
hello@example.com
support@example.com
SALES@example.comLoad the example with trimming, blank-line removal and deduplication enabled. Run the cleaner. The two support addresses become one because their outer spaces are removed first. The result has three lines, preserving their first-seen order.
Understand exact matching
Deduplication is case-sensitive and compares the complete line. It does not lowercase addresses, remove punctuation or normalize Unicode lookalikes. A display that looks identical can contain different characters. If the distinction matters, inspect the source rather than assuming a visually similar line is a duplicate.
Sorting is optional and uses deterministic character ordering, not locale-aware alphabetical or numeric sorting. In ascending order, uppercase and lowercase letters can separate, and item10 may precede item2. Keep original order when it expresses priority, chronology or a sequence that another program will interpret.
Replace literal text safely
The Find and Replace fields treat their contents literally. Finding . replaces an actual period; it does not act as a regular-expression wildcard. All exact occurrences in each line are replaced, and an empty Find field performs no replacement. Replacement runs before extraction, blank-line removal, deduplication and sorting.
For example, replacing a known prefix such as Contact: can prepare a list for another system. Review a small sample first, especially when a replacement could join previously different values. Repeated values created by the replacement may be removed by deduplication afterward.
Extraction is a starting point
Email and URL extraction find simple candidates in pasted prose. They do not validate a mailbox, make network requests, check a domain, or cover every valid address syntax. A URL at the end of a sentence may include punctuation that needs manual removal. Internationalized and unusual addresses can be missed. Use extraction to reduce a messy source to a reviewable list, not as proof that contacts are valid.
Keep the workflow local and reviewable
The tool runs in your browser and does not save a history of the text. Copy or download the result before leaving the page. A download is saved by your browser to your device; other people with access to that device may be able to read it. Check the final line count and several representative entries before importing into another application.
All example addresses use the reserved example.com domain. No real customer list is included in this tutorial.
