How to use Text Compare
- Paste your original text on the left and the revised version on the right, or open a UTF-8 file in each pane.
- Choose whether to ignore outer whitespace, letter case or blank lines. Leave all off for exact text matching.
- Select Compare text. Use the change filter and navigation to review each addition and removal. Export the report when ready.
Review a launch checklist
2 added lines, 1 removed line and 4 matched lines. The status edit is a removal plus an addition.

The comparison aligns matching lines, then labels unmatched lines as added or removed. Editing one line can produce one removal and one addition. CRLF and CR line endings normalize to LF; a final newline alone is ignored. Optional matching rules never rewrite the displayed source text.
Practical limits
Up to 1 MiB and 4,000 physical lines per input. The unmatched section is limited to 4 million line pairs. The preview is paged; the download includes every report row.
Common questions
Why is an edited line shown twice?
This is a line comparison. The old line is removed and the new line is added; it does not guess which words were rewritten.
Does ignoring case change my text?
No. It changes which lines match. Both original versions remain visible for matched lines.
Is the exported report a patch?
No. It is a readable review report with matching settings and + / − markers, not a patch file for automatic application.
